So we're building a brewery - Part 2
November 08, 2014 at 3:15 PM
Wanted to take a moment to catch you up on what you've missed over the last 6+ months.
First up, we had to finish the wall that separates the taproom from the brewery. We used recycled wood from a house in Vermont to build the walls in the taproom.
We made the trek to Akron, Ohio to pick up the boiler. When we got there, we realized some of the house needed to go if we were going to get this beast back to the brewery
The kettle came from a farm in upstate New York. Unfortunately, UHAUL misunderstood a 6 by 12 open trailer for a 6 by 12 closed trailer so we had to get a little creative.
Mash tun came from a closed dairy farm in New York. It was here where we got to meet a brewery legend, Frank the Farmer! (more on him at a later date). The fermenters made the trek from sunny Florida.
Before we knew it, it started looking like a brewery.
Next we needed a bar. The wood for the bar top came from Big Daddy's backyard.
Once the bar was ready, our interior designer quickly turned his attention to the back bar.
On October 12th, 15 months after we got the keys, we brewed our first batch.
Next up, opening day. Hope to see everyone November 26th.
